Been MIA in the Kitchen

Sheesh, some cooking blog! Fact is, I haven’t been cooking! Not hardly at all. I’ve been working overtime here, going crazy earning the moolah while I plan for this kitchen renovation. It’s a BIG project. I’m very nervous. I try not to be…. but it’s a huge, huge project.. and we’re updating the plumbing and electrical while we’re at it. It’s just a lot of work. I cannot wait until it’s done.

This week, we’re packing up everything: books. boots, dishes, toys, everything. The kitchen, dining room, and downstairs bathroom are going to be completely gutted, and we’re also going to drill holes in the upstairs rooms to get electricity into them. It will feel SO luxurious to have electrical outlets and switched lights. It will feel SO luxurious to have proper plumbing, toilets that flush, even a dishwasher, and INSULATED walls!!! I am doing the happy dance in anticipation. But then I think of all the plaster and lathe devastation… and the bills… and OH LORD help me. Whew.

I’ll post photos here as things develop. I’m staying very basic with my kitchen design, but I’m adding a few storage quirks that may prove interesting. Stay tuned!
